The five components of fitness are sequential and interdependent. It is necessary to address them in proper sequence.  Functional  Fysical  Fitness is the re-integration of natural movement.

Human Function is intimately connected with health, and to improve our function is to improve our health and well-being. It is important to recognize that our function is related to our habits, and change takes time.

S5 =  Stamina
represents our cardiovascular system, which is responsible for supplying life-giving blood and oxygen to the body. This is the foundation on which to build. 
          Suppleness
is the predetermined amount of mobility in the human body throughout its various joints. Any deficiencies here limit and impair proper function. 
          Stability
comes before strength. There are 5 muscle actions that produce movement, and they need to be balanced to achieve skeletal coordination and stability. 
          Strength
strength involves progressively overloading the neuromuscular system. The more you do, the more you're able to do. 
          Speed
is integrated after practicing and mastering adequate levels of the previous components.

Asking what is human function is meant to be thought provoking.  Simple movement requires a myriad of functions to occur.  To be knowledgeable about exercise you have to be knowledgeable about the human body, and not just "book" smart, but also experientially movement smart.

You Body is the only instrument you have to 'Function' in life.

How well does yours function?

 

Although we live in the so called information age, we grievously lack helpful, accurate and clear information about human function. This can be exemplified by the physical and health state of the population around us.*

The human being is the most complex organism in the known universe. Human function is extremely complex and is affected by countless factors and habits.
